These not so basic, award-winning empanadas pack tons of flavor in small packages. From the recognizable black-and-white bold color scheme and logo to the flavorsome ingredients, it’s easy to see why Empamamas’ has a loyal following. After running a successful food truck in the Tampa Bay area for two years, Empamamas now has a permanent location as one of the 14-food vendors in Heights Public Market at Armature Works.
The menu appeals to a wide range of palates, with its core identity focused on traditional Tampa flavors. The award-winning “Tampa Girl” adds all the flavors of a traditional Cuban sandwich into an empanada, with roasted pork, ham, salami, Swiss cheese, pickle and Empamamas’ “Tampa Girl” sauce.
With 30 empanada recipes, Empamamas rotates a series of four to five on the menu at any given time. Locals have been lining up for these signature creations along with the other popular menu items like the “Bang Bang Fingers and Fries,” “Fried CheezIt Grilled Cheese” and signature street tacos, which will be rolling out on May 5th (Cinco De Mayo).
Tacos will be added to the street eats menu which includes Mama’s take on chicken, pork and vegan street tacos, chips and salsa and street corn queso.
“This opportunity is exactly what we have worked for, day-in and day-out, over the past two years,” says Stephanie Swanz, founder of Empamamas. “We look forward to revamping our stall, expanding our menu, and increasing our catering offerings. We will work relentlessly to deliver the best empanadas and customer service in town.”
Loyal customers no longer need to track down the truck, Empamamas is now open in Heights Public Market seven days a week.
