Armature Works is pleased to present our newest monthly series, in partnership with Oxford Exchange, The Armature Works Book Club. Join us on the third Tuesday of every month to enjoy lite bites, beer and wine, as well as open discussions on a wide range of novels led by Oxford Exchange.
Tickets include lite bites provided by vendors within Heights Public Market as well as beer and wine. The series will kick off with The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai for its first pick in January 2019.
The Great Believers is simultaneously a thrilling page-turner that presses forward with the urge to discover what comes next, and an introspective novel about mortality, life, and the balance therein. With alternating chapters that move between a group of friends in 1985 Chicago and a mother searching for her estranged daughter in 2015 Paris, the novel explores fascinating themes like the AIDS crisis from its beginnings to the present, the art world, underground cults, and more. The Great Believers has already proven to be an important novel as a finalist for the 2018 National Book Award, and will spark engrossing discussions for the year to come.
