Whether you are a Tampa local or just visiting you won’t have to go too far to plan a fun day. From memorable dining experiences to creative crafts, exercising on the Tampa Riverwalk or relaxing waterside taking in the views of Downtown Tampa, we have all the makings for a full weekend of all-around fun.
Here’s a short list of 9 things to do with your mom on Mother’s Day weekend at Armature Works:
1. Treat her to brunch
Cooking not your style? Nix breakfast in bed this year and treat mom to brunch at one of the two full service restaurants. Steelbach is offering a special Mother’s Day menu full of delicious sharables, plates and a Rose All Day cupcake. Plus, they will be giving away pink long-stemmed roses to show appreciation for all the awesome moms out there. You could also reserve a table at Oak & Ola and try their diverse range of plates in the recently launched brunch service. Be sure to make reservations in advance.
2. For crafty types, attend a custom jewelry dish workshop
Customize your own shatter proof and water-resistant jewelry dish just in time for Mother’s Day. The class is taking place in Show + Tell on Saturday, May 11th at 10am. The Colibri Project will walk you through customization ideas and techniques to make your personalized dish. All ages are welcome and this is a great way to spend some one-on-one time with your mama. Register for the event here.
3. Assemble customized hand-wrapped floral bouquets
Posies, the vintage flower shop on wheels offering unique blooms you can’t find at the grocery store, will be parked outside of Armature Works from 10am-4pm on Mother’s Day. Build your own, build it together or have the team at Posies assist you in creating the perfect bouquet for mom.
4. Say what you’ve always wanted to tell her
Not a wordsmith? No problem. Mother’s Day poems are a great way to show your love and appreciation and luckily Gio, the poet, is on a mission to write one million of them in his lifetime. Gio will be at Armature Works this Sunday, May 12th from 2pm-5pm. Help him reach his goal with a touching poem for mom to show her just how much you care.
5. Listen to live music
With a constant rotation of live musicians, no matter the musical taste, we’re positive she’ll enjoy the lineup this weekend. There’s live music on Saturday from 11am-2pm, 3pm-6pm and 7pm-10pm and on Sunday, Sebastian Tenorio-Vallegjo is performing from 1pm-4pm. We’re sure she’ll be entertained and maybe even be able to relax a little.
6. If crafting isn’t your thing, A.W. Mercantile has loads of gifts
There’s no better activity when it comes to spoiling mom than a shopping trip! A.W. Mercantile is the only retail shop within Heights Public Market carrying locally sourced and handmade goods. Spend the morning spoiling mom while perusing through the latest inventory of jewelry, cards, lotions, leather goods and more.
7. Get moving
Looking for an active way to spend some quality time with mom? Try walking, biking or running to Armature Works. Armature Works is nestled directly on Tampa’s Riverwalk, a 2.4-mile active, pedestrian trail extending through downtown Tampa and along the Hillsborough River. Afterwards cool down within Heights Public Market and enjoy your pick of the 14-different food and beverage vendors.
8. Take her to see the best sunset in town
The recently opened rooftop lounge at Armature Works, M.Bird, serves an extensive list of tropical cocktails and small plates. Sip on the Hemingway or Afterthot cocktail and enjoy a front row seat overlooking Downtown Tampa and the Hillsborough river all while catching the best sunset in town. M.Bird is 21-and over and is open from 12:00pm – 12:00am.
9. Snap a photo in front of our succulent frame
No trip to Armature Works is complete without a photo in front of the insta-worthy succulent frame. Located in the courtyard, capture a photo of you and mom and enter to win a $100 gift card to Armature Works. To enter, post a photo of you and mom, tag @armatureworks_tampa and use hashtag #awmomsrule. Don’t forget to include your best tribute to mom!
